I've never had to an animal down EVER. My Mom had three cats, one Maine Coon "Hoot" that lived to 21, another kitty that lived to 19 "Mattie", and a little grey kitty "Bones" that lived to only 13 I think. She said the first time she went in with "Hoot", but she couldn't handle the other two times. You're right about the decision process. I've got to get Snowy to a vet. I can tell she has bad arthritis, and she crys when I pick her up. She still purrs all the time, but I've heard that some cats will do that when they are in pain. I'm hoping she'll be okay. She still actually plays sometimes, still baths herself, and even loves on me. It's just going to break my heart if I have to let her go because she's been with me so long. And your babies were with you for 18 years, even longer. Thanks for the advice. Obviously at some point, I'm going to have to make that difficult decison..
